High-Resolution Manometry

Esophageal Manometry

We also offers high-resolution esophageal manometry to test for swallowing disorders and other conditions that affect the esophagus. This test is performed on an outpatient basis and can be completed in as little as 20 minutes.

A long narrow catheter is positioned in the patient’s esophagus, after which sensors on the catheter measure the pressure being exerted at various locations inside the esophagus. This helps to determine if the patient’s swallowing function is working appropriately. The test also reveals whether the sphincter between the esophagus and stomach is functioning properly.

This advanced diagnostic technology allows physicians to better diagnose diseases such as dysphagia, achalasia, and hiatal hernia.
